Body Pump

Donna (who doesn't have a blog...hint, hint) and I went to Body Pump tonight at Club Fitness. The class is 1 hour of weight lifting - tons of squats, lunges, arms, crazy tricep exercises, biceps, etc. There is a small ab section at the end. Here's part of the entry on Body Pump from Les Mills website (the creator of the class):

BODYPUMP™ is the fastest way to shape up and lose body fat. It’s a toning and conditioning class with weights and is for just about everybody who wants to add strength training into their aerobic workout. The simplicity of the class makes BODYPUMP™ a great starting point to develop strength and confidence. Hot sounds and compelling choreography keep you going through each 45-minute or one-hour workout. You’ll use a step platform, a bar and a set of weights.

This website talks about the various parts of the class:

It is a hard class! The first time we used only 1 small weight for the entire time. This time we did 2 small weights for some of the exercises. Our legs were shaking like crazy after all the leg exercises! The plan is to go again on Thursday evening, providing we're not still insanely sore! I highly recommend the class. I did way more reps than I would ever have done on my own.

I'm going to do some cardio and abs (about an hour total) tomorrow evening after my WW meeting.
Hopefully I'll have a decent loss. We started back last week after being gone for a while. I met my 10% goal while we were gone. Woohoo! About 18 pounds left to my goal, although my ultimate goal would be to lose about 30 pounds.

I thought I'd post a picture, and this was one that came up when I Googled weight lifting. Um...disgusting!

Oh, that sounds like so much fun! I really wish we belonged to a gym that had classes. None of the ones out here do, and if it were farther away I know we would never make it. Good luck at your WW meeting!

I know, I do need a blog! I will say that I am doing pretty well this morning compared to the last time. I can actually walk! It is such a good workout though and the instructor really seemed to be watching everyone for proper form and everything. I definitely want to go again on Thursday!

Thanks for all your good wishes on my blog! Your class sounds great! I never seem to stick with any type of gym related work outs. I try to walk everyday, but honestly it's been so hot I've kind of been slacking. Your post inspired me to get a mile in at lunch today.

I was a little sore today, but not that bad. I couldn't do the elliptical for quite as long as I'd hoped tonight because my legs did start hurting a bit.

I ended up doing 35 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the bike, and 10 minutes of abs.
