Goodbye tonsils!

I went for my 6 month check-up with my ENT on Monday afternoon. I figured he'd just check my nose, ask how the allergy shots were going, and I'd be on my way.

Oh, no! He tells me I need to have my tonsils taken out! Lovely! Especially since I teach in a year-round school, and we've already started our school year.

Since my wedding is over our fall break, I'm going to have to miss some school. The surgery (yikes!) is scheduled for August 11th. I'll be out that whole week!

I was kind of proud of the fact that I'd made it to the age of 28 with my tonsils and appendix. I won't be able to say the same when I turn 29 next year.

**Yes, I know I've been a BAD blogger! With the start of the school year, I haven't been home much lately. The beginning of the year is always hectic and time consuming.**

My sister has also been told that she has to get her tonsils out, but unlike you she is waiting. I wish you all the luck! And I will bring you all the ice cream you could want!

I had my tonsils taken out in 7th grade. They were painful for about a week afterwards. But, I did get to eat all kinds of yummy cold things like popsicles and icecream and jello. I lost weight on that diet, too.

Good luck! Be sure to have a stockpile of soft, cold things for when you get home.

Ick. Have you had a lot of strep throat or something? That doesn't sound like fun at all, hang in there!

Thanks Sarah Danielle!

Ice cream does sound yummy. I'm hoping I'll lose some weight, so I can't eat too much ice cream! :-)

Thanks Beckie! :-)

Kelly - thanks for the reminder to stockpile stuff! I'm hoping when they send me the paperwork, they'll give some ideas of things I can eat.

Ouch! I had mine taken out when I was younger. All I could eat was ice cream, popcicles, applesauce, pudding, stuff like that. It's nice to be able to eat that stuff, but I remember not wanting it.

Good luck with the removal. Let me know how it goes.

I'm late on this, but I hope your surgery goes well! You should try to sample a ice cream from a different place every day. For instance, Ted Drewes on Monday, Coldstone on Tuesday, etc.

I'm in shock that you started school already!
